  1. What do I do if my Practice has already been audited?

There are many types of audits, from the frequent review of a few charts to a full blown Medicare/Medicaid audit involving the Office of the Inspector General and/or Agents. PAS handles your small audits inside our billing process, or we can provide you an outside review of any charts that have been requested of you now. If you’re going through a RAC or other formal audit by Medicare/Medicaid immediately call your malpractice insurance carrier and have them assign you Legal Counsel if you don’t already have your own. We can assist in reviewing all charts they have pulled for accuracy, review your practice algorithms, and compare the sample to your general population. In our experience we have found auditors typically focus on a single issue that we have been able to demonstrate is out of context and inaccurate when viewed within the entire practice scope and patient population.

  2. How can you claim to make the practice money when it costs money to hire you?

We have been involved in optimizing revenue cycle and operational procedures in healthcare practices for many years. By managing the front end and correctly coding and submitting claims we can turn around claims faster and therefore at a higher return. We also have a strong follow up system to work claims through collections so monies are not left on the table. It is primarily this higher collection percentage that allows you to gain more income by employing our services.

  3. How do you collect my currently outstanding AR?

PAS is able to use your current software or manual system to collect outstanding balances from the government, commercial insurance companies and patients. We can then pursue outstanding balances and bring these funds to your bottom line. Collection agencies take 50% or more of collected old AR. Switching your billing to PAS will save you the bulk of these fees, so that only the oldest of the old patient balances need to be turned over to a collection agency.

  4. How difficult is the transition to new practice management software that includes certified EMR/EHR?

We can offer licenses to a new certified EMR that will make you eligible to receive Medicare incentive payments. This transition can be handled in multiple ways from a complete data conversion to simply closing your previous system and starting up fresh with new software. We strive to make this conversion seamless and continue to work your existing AR so you have no lapses in collections.

“While other practices have increased overhead year to year, PAS consulting has kept us on a conservative financial platform and effectively billed our services so that we remain financially strong and independent."
